Book Education

A Project which proposes to improve education in Africa by arousing interest in reading and promoting an educational culture focused on reading books.

Access to education facilitated by making books available to pupils and students

The project improves education in Africa by promoting reading and supports students in Europe by providing them with free books to combat poverty.

Our activity in Europe

In Europe, we are fighting student poverty by distributing books free of charge to young people in difficulty from the start of the semester.

Our action in Africa

In West Africa, we contribute to improving access to education by distributing school textbooks and general knowledge books.

disinterest in books.png

A lack of interest in reading

There is a lack of interest among students in reading due to lack of habit, the scarcity of books, a stagnant school curriculum and the low income of parents.

low income.png

Low parental income

Parents are more concerned about success at the end of the year than the quality of education. On average, a parent buys their child two novels per year.

unavailability of books.png

Unavailability of books

This hinders development, creativity and the acquisition of knowledge. Even if a child is very interested in reading, it is difficult to obtain it.

mastery of several languages.png

Mastery of a secondary language

Due to the colonial heritage, the most awarded secondary languages are English and German. But we see far too mediocre mastery of these languages among learners.

How does the project deliver

accessible education?

The initiative concerns both pupils and students and is implemented as an extracurricular activity in schools. Project volunteers who are students come to schools for reading sessions and presentation of the idea of books and novels. As a result, student volunteers develop their leadership and students learn new things while developing an interest in reading and self-study.

a vicious circle

Intellectual lever

Few books available means little reading, therefore little interest, therefore little demand, and ultimately, little investment in libraries. Or rather the opposite?

The book is not simply a means of information, but a true engine of individual and collective transformation.
