A clear mission framework
You join a structured project: from cataloguing books to running reading workshops. From day one, your objectives are set to strengthen the autonomy of our work in schools.

Join the Book Education international volunteering programme. We offer educational missions from six weeks to twelve months, fully supported to ensure concrete impact on the ground. Ready to join us? Submit your application.

We believe access to books durably transforms a student’s learning path and strengthens their entire learning environment. In that spirit Betfrika rolls out the Book Education programme, creating a solidarity bridge between international volunteers and our partner communities in Togo.
This programme brings volunteers from different walks of life together with local teams to support concrete action. Here the mission is co-created: you do not come to replace anyone, but to bring your time, skills and energy within a mixed, close-knit team. The encounter of cultures is what strengthens our impact.
Beyond the mission, it is a mutual learning experience in service of a clear educational project. If your aim is to play a useful role and live a transformative human journey, submit your intent to take the next step.
Good to know
Six clear checkpoints before you submit your intent — minimal, high-signal.
You join a structured project: from cataloguing books to running reading workshops. From day one, your objectives are set to strengthen the autonomy of our work in schools.
Your mission meets a vital need Betfrika has identified: transforming access to reading. We do not create token roles; we assign responsibilities where your impact on pupils’ learning paths will be strongest.
Choose your pace: six weeks for intense operational support during key phases, or 6–12 months to help stabilise structures and support the educational follow-up of young beneficiaries.
We build our relationship on trust. Logistics in Togo, selection steps and engagement criteria: everything is shared upfront so your decision is well informed, with no grey areas.
The journey is collective. When you arrive, the local team welcomes you for an immersion at the heart of our culture. This human support helps you quickly become an essential link in the book chain.
Change starts with intent. By completing this form, you begin a tailored conversation with us to confirm the fit between your profile and schools’ needs. Let’s get to know each other.

Mission location
This mission currently takes place in Lomé, Togo. Other destinations in West Africa are planned in the near future.
Fields marked with an asterisk are required.
Project
In West Africa, students read very little. It's a vicious circle whose origin is difficult to identify.
Due to lack of infrastructure and books, young people don't develop the habit of reading. And because they read so little, demand remains low, which hampers investment in new reading spaces.
