Complex Memories, seed fund

Complex Memories is an educational exhibition that invites young people, teachers and communities to understand and question the legacies left by colonisation. A sensitive subject, often handled partially or in conflict-ridden ways, that this exhibition proposes to approach differently: with nuance, rigour and respect for differing points of view.

The seed fund finances the first stages of design: historical research, scenography, the creation of interactive content, participatory workshops and the production of teaching materials.

This project stands out for its collaborative approach. Participants are not only spectators: they are also contributors. Their stories, their questions and their perspectives feed into the very content of the exhibition.

This approach turns an often top-down format into a genuine space for dialogue, where everyone can add their part to the collective construction of a shared memory.

Before being deployed in institutions, the exhibition must be tested, adjusted and documented. That is exactly what the seed fund enables: trialling the installations in the field, gathering real educational needs and building a prototype robust enough to be replicated.

Because understanding where we come from is the condition for thinking together about what comes next.
